Wellbeing Research Center established at the University of Oxford in partnership with CFCG to Research the Significance of Wellbeing in Education

On September 7th, the “Oxford University Harris Manchester College Hong Kong Alumnus Reception & Oxford University Wellbeing Research Center Global Launch” was held at the Conrad in Hong Kong. In attendance at the launch event was Professor Jane Shaw — Pro-Vice-Chancellor of University of Oxford and Principal of Harris Manchester College, Professor Jan-Emmanuel De Neve –Director of the Wellbeing Research Center of University of Oxford and KSI Education Ltd. (“KSI Education”), Dr. Wilson Sea, Chairman of Board of Directors and Executive Director of China First Capital Group Ltd. (“CFCG” or the “Group”, stock code: 1269.HK), Dr. Zhu Huanqiang, Co-CEO and Executive Director of the Group, Ms. Li Minwen, Deputy CEO of the Group, Mr. Zong Bin, Deputy CEO of the Group, Dr. Wang Hui, CFO of the Group, Dr. Sabrina CHEUNG, Chairman of KSI Education, alumni of Harris Manchester College and talents from fields of education, finance and media.

KSI Education is the exclusive founding partner of the Research Center and an institution member of Universities Chancellor’s Court of Benefactors (CCB), University of Oxford. In June, 2018, CFCG subscribed almost 49% of the shares of KSI Education and had become a significant institutional investor into KSI Education and an important Chinese strategic partner to Harris Manchester College. The Press Conference not only symbolized the official establishment of the Research Center, but also displayed and shared results of interdisciplinary wellbeing research, realized the complementation of Chinese and western cultures, promoted collboration of ideas and wisdoms, and deeply explored future innovative into education and wellbeing education.

At the beginning of the Press Conference, Dr. Zhu Huanqiang warmly welcomed alumni of Harris Manchester College from different regions and talents from fields of education, finance and press, and congratulated the establishment of the Research Center.

Professor Jane Shaw introduced the development of Harris Manchester College in detail. Among the 38 colleges in University of Oxford, Harris Manchester College exclusively supports mature students (older than 21) and provides undergraduate, postgraduate, master and doctorate degrees.

Professor Jan-Emmanuel De Neve shared the establishment goal, missions, research team and results of the Research Center.

Dr. Wilson Sea said that research of happiness is a permanent pursuit of mankind, a symbol of social progress and an eternal topic worth discussion; happiness is an attitude in life and judgment over values.

About the essence of education, Dr. Wilson Sea stated that: education is to explore students’ potentials, inspire their interests in learning and develop their view of happiness. Education is to call for life; CFCG adheres to the concept of “education inspiring life, learning changing destiny” and wishes all education workers can understand the essence of education and make students and themselves happy through research into Wellbeing in education.

After the Press Conference, in the presence of leaders and guests, Professor Jane Shaw, Professor Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, Dr. Wilson Sea and Mr. Li Dahong, Vice President and Chief Editor of Hong Kong Ta Kung Wenhui Media Group unveiled a plaque for the Research Center.
